1% For The Planet

Positive Impact

By design Notabag was always meant to reduce waste, but to us sustainability goes beyond that. We care that you, our customers, care about where your products come from and their impact on the environment.

To us, sustainability is about creating virtuous circles and giving back is part of that: as a member of the 1% for the Planet network, we commit 1% of our annual sales to environmental nonprofits.

We are committed to making a positive impact on the environment

What Is 1% For The Planet?

1% for the Planet is a global organization where businesses and individuals come together for a common goal: to ensure our planet and future generations thrive.

It was created in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies to build a movement of businesses giving one percent of their annual sales back to the environment—whether they were profitable or not.

The donations go to vetted organizations working on most pressing issues including climate, food, land, pollution, water and wildlife. This allows brands like us to make a real impact through annual membership and everyday actions.

And that means you are making an impact too. Every time you buy a Notabag product, a portion of that sale goes towards protecting our planet.

Cause

Children are our future. As a member of 1% for the Planet, we have chosen to donate to Save the Children, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of children in need worldwide. They prioritize child welfare by providing essential services such as education, health care, food, and shelter.

If you have suggestions for other nonprofit organizations we should support, please feel free to email us at info@notabag.com.

Why Now

We started with making a positive impact on the environment one Notabag at a time in 2012, knowing that customers who use Notabag, choose to avoid single-use plastic. But we knew that one day we would like to do more.

We’re excited to now be making a positive impact by directly sharing a part of our annual revenue one percent at a time. One percent may seem small, but it’s a milestone we’re proud to reach. And don’t forget the power of community! To date, the 1% for the Planet organization has directed over $280 million to environmental nonprofits.
